City Hall closed for Christmas Holiday

Morganton City Hall will be closed next Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, to celebrate Christmas. The Collett Street Recreation Center will close at 4:00 pm Wednesday and will also be closed Christmas Day.

Garbage collection will be affected! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's route will be picked up on regular schedule. THURSDAY'S ROUTE WILL BE PICKED UP FRIDAY.


Water line break at the corner of E. Meeting and Bouchelle streets

Update - December 15, 2014: Repairs were complete and water service restored by 6:45 pm.

Temporary power shut off

The City of Morganton Electric Services Department will temporarily shut off power to some customers in the northwest area of the city to repair a loose power line.

Electric Services Director Brooks Kirby said that one of the primary power lines on a pole at Evans Street and Avery Avenue has been damaged.
