Fireworks show this Saturday!
June 26, 2012
The City of Morganton fireworks show will be this Saturday evening at Catawba Meadows Park at approximately 9:30 pm.
Parks and Recreation Director Gary Leonhardt said the fireworks have become a big attraction for the Red, White and Bluegrass Festival, but he wanted to move the show to the first day of the festival, which is free to the public.
"Saturday is free admission, and everyone can come enjoy the festival and the music," Leonhardt said. "If you just want to see the fireworks, then you can come as early as you like to find the right spot."
Leonhardt said Catawba Meadows can accommodate a lot of vehicles, but people should in time to make sure they get parked in time. The best place to see the fireworks is from the festival area and ball fields.
"If you wait to the last minute, you may have a problem," Leonhardt said. "But if you come early, you'll get a good spot and you can enjoy some great bluegrass music.
There will not be a City of Morganton fireworks show on July 4, 2012.
