Kluttz pushes for renewal of historic tax credits program

N.C. Department of Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz visited Morganton Wednesday, March 25, 2015, continuing her and Gov. Pat McCrory’s push to restore the state’s historic preservation tax credits program. Kluttz is asking North Carolinians to sign a petition supporting the program and to call their state senators and representatives as well and voice their support.


Morganton wins Main Street awards

The City of Morganton Main Street Department won three awards during the 2015 N.C. Main Street Conference hosted in Morganton last week, showing once again that Downtown Morganton has what it takes to be a great main street.

The Morganton Main Street Department received awards in the following categories: “Best Public Relations Effort” for the City’s Main Street Program Energizes Downtown brochure and video; “Best Image-Building Campaign” for the City’s Wayfinding Project; and “Best Business Retention, Expansion or Recruitment Effort” for the City’s Creative Arts Center Recruitment Initiative.


Notice of possible quorum March 25, 2015

The Morganton City Council along with N.C. Department of Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz and other local leaders will tour local buildings that were developed using the state's Historic Tax Credit program and properties that could benefit from the program. The tour will take place Wednesday, March 25, beginning at 11:00 am. It is possible a quorum of City Council may be in attendance at these events; however, no action by Council will be taken.
