Morganton Public Safety Officers identify and arrest a Federal Probation Fugitive while conducting a License Checking Station.
Public Safety Officers continued their investigation into the identity and driver’s license status of the driver and true identity of the male passenger. The driver was found to be Ginger Rhea Street of Roan Mountain, Tennessee and the passenger whom identified himself as James Lee Dalton was found to be Jonathan Trey Sloan of Marion, NC. Both individuals were checked for active warrants and it was at this time that information was obtained through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) that Jonathan Trey Sloan was wanted by US Marshals for a Federal Probation Violation for Counterfeiting. Sloan was immediately taken into custody. While escorting him to the patrol vehicle, Sloan began to resist officers and made an attempt to escape custody but was immediately apprehended.
Jonathan Trey Sloan was later transported to the Magistrate’s Office where he was charged with Resist, Delay, and Obstruct a Public Officer and then transported to the Burke Catawba Detention Facility where he was held with no bond while awaiting the arrival of US Marshals for the Federal Probation Violation. Additionally, the driver of the truck, Ginger Rhea Street, was charged and arrested by PSO Paterno for Felonious Harboring a Fugitive. She was transported to the Magistrate’s Office and then to the Burke Catawba Detention Facility where she was held under a $10,000 Secured Bond.
