07/09/2012 Man Dies After Being Hit by Train

On 07/09/2012 at approximately 9:04 pm a subject was hit by a train near Church St. and Hogan St.
On 07/09/2012 Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the railroad tracks near Church St and Hogan St in reference to a subject that was hit by a train. A Norfolk Southern train traveling west bound struck a male subject who was lying on the tracks. According to the train’s conductor, the subject was lying down on the tracks and appeared unresponsive as the train approached. The subject died as a result of the injuries sustained from the collision.
At time of this release the identification of the subject is not known. He is described as a Hispanic male in his late twenties to early thirties with short black hair. The investigation into the case is continuing.
