Ballroom & Line Dancing

Anyone interested in Ballroom or Line Dancing is invited to meet at the H. Clinton Foust, Jr./Collett Street Recreation Center on Monday's. Light refreshments will be served.

Banjo Lessons

Beginner and intermediate group lessons.

Ages: 5+ (must have own banjo)

Instructor: Gary Leonhardt and Greg Deal

When:

  • One hour classes on Monday and Tuesday
  • Classes start at 1:00 pm • 2:00 pm • 3:00 pm • 4:00 p.m.

Cost: FREE

Bellydance Classes with Reyna & Rick

Wear comfortable easy to move in clothes & a coin scarf if you have one. Class is taught barefoot, in socks or wearing flexible shoes. Bring water!

Bootcamp: Drills and more drills to sharpen your skills. Drop in anytime at any level. Thursday from 7:30 – 8:30PM

Bellydance Basics: Learn Technique, posture, strength training and Level 1 Combos. Classes run in monthly sessions. Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:00PM

Intermediate Class: Learn the level 2 combos, formations and transitions. Classes run in monthly sessions. Thursday from 6:00 - 7:30PM

Class rates for City residents

  • BellyFit & Bootcamp OR Technique: $25/month, $5/child w/adult
  • Technique with BellyFit & Bootcamp: $30/month. $5/child w/adult
  • BellyFit Drop in:  $5/ class, $2/child w/adult
  • Rates for Non-City Residents: Add $7 to monthly rates, Adults add $2 to drop in rate.

Drum Lessons

Drum lessons for all ages and skill levels.

Instructor: Bobby Pearson

When:  Monday-Thursdays at  3:30 pm,  4:30 pm, and 5:30 pm

Where: Collett Street Recreation Center

Cost: for 5 classes

  • 30 minute session is $20.00
  • 45 minute session is $25.00
  • 1 hour session is $30.00

GUITAR with Miguel Pico Ages: 5+

Beginner and intermediate group lessons. Must have own guitar.

When:

  • One hour classes are on Tuesday or Thursday
  • 2:00 p.m. • 3:00 p.m. • 4:00 p.m. • 5:00 p.m. • 6:00 p.m.

Cost: 4 lessons: $30.00 for city residents / $40.00 for non-city residents

Skeet and Trap

When:

  • Wednesday: 3:00 pm - dark
  • Saturday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Sunday: 1:00 pm - dark

Where: 400 Quarry Road up from Vulcan Rock Quarry
Cost per round: $3 city residents / $4 non-city resident (25 skeet per round

 

Stained Glass Class - Beginning and Beyond/Mosaics

Instruction on how to cut glass, foil each piece and solder all pieces together. Students will complete three projects.

Instructor: Curtis Lambert

When:

  • Organizational meeting at 9:00 am Tuesday Feb. 21, 2012
  • Class will meet from 9:00 - 11:30 am every Tuesday for 8 weeks starting February 28, 2012

Where: Collett St Recreation Center.

Cost: $25.00. Supplies needed for each project can be purchased from the instructor at an additional cost.

TAE KWON DO

Instructor: Randy Hullette, 6th degree blackbelt
When: Classes meet on Tuesday & Thursday at 6:30 p.m. year-round
Cost: $30.00 per month for City residents - $40.00 per month for non-city residents

Youth Art Classes

Instructor: Kara Jones

When: Classes start January 31, 2012

  • AFTERART (Grades K through 2nd) After school art. Each month will have a theme.
    Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • AFTERART (Grades 3rd through 5th) After school art. Each month will have a theme.
    Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • HOMESCHOOL ART (All ages) Learn various artists & their influence in the history of art. As you learn from these "masters of art," we ill imitate their techniques with our own twists. Wednesday from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Where: Collett Street Recreation Center

Cost: $30.00 per month for residents / $40.00 per month non-resident

Zumba Dance Exercise

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music with dance movements creating a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system.  Parents and children 5+ are welcome to “Ditch the Workout and Join the Party!”

Instructor: Pam Burleson

When:

  • Tuesday & Thursday at 4:15 pm & 5:15 pm in the Social Hall.
  • Saturday from 8:30  - 9:15 am in the Gymnasium

Where: H. Clinton Foust Jr./Collett St Recreation Center

Cost:

  • $5.00 per day
  • $25.00 for an 8-class punch card ($32.00 for non-city residents)
  • $5.00 for child punch card with paid adult punch card
