Utility line preparation for construction at Exit 104 on Enola Road has started, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation is expected to start construction in the spring. City staff have prepared a simplified plan so residents can compare the current  Exit 104 interchange with the future interchange.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has started work on the Sterling Street and I-40 Exit 105 interchange. City staff have simplified the plans into a document for residents to compare the current interchange with the future interchange.

Download and view this PDF compiled from NCDOT construction plans to see the current roadways and planned roadways, or just click on one of the images below. Sterling Street will be widened to six lanes through the interchange and the I-40 bridges over Sterling Street will be replaced.

The PDF contains five layers: Labels, NCDOT Existing Layout, NCDOT Prop Right-of-Way, and NCDOT Proposed Layout. The Existing Layout shows the current roadway. The Proposed Layout shows the planned changes.
