Blue Elves thank givers for donations

For more than 20 years, the City of Morganton Department of Public Safety's "Blue Elves", in conjunction with Morganton Housing Authority, have provided toys for hundreds of local children. Public Safety Officers, acting as stewards of this charity, help collect toys from local retailers and give these gifts to families in need.


Tax payments due in January

City of Morganton tax payments are due Jan. 5, 2015. Tax payments should be received in the tax office by Jan. 5, 2015 to avoid an added penalty of 2%. Any taxes unpaid after Jan. 5, 2015 will be assessed 2% interest. An additional ¾% interest will be assessed each month thereafter.


City Hall closed for Christmas Holiday

Morganton City Hall will be closed next Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, to celebrate Christmas. The Collett Street Recreation Center will close at 4:00 pm Wednesday and will also be closed Christmas Day.

Garbage collection will be affected! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's route will be picked up on regular schedule. THURSDAY'S ROUTE WILL BE PICKED UP FRIDAY.
