Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department maintains two disc golf courses in the City of Morganton for residents and visitors to enjoy!

 

Bethel Park DGC - 9 Holes

PRDG-Bethel_Park_DGC_Map-d2-20090929-150pxThe Bethel Park course offers 9 holes and is located in Bethel Park. From Downtown Morganton, take S. Sterling Street south towards I-40. Turn left at the stop light onto Bethel Street. Follow Bethel Street to the left. Go about 1 mile. Turn right into Bethel Park. (Bethel Street becomes Bethel Road.)

At Bethel Park visitors will also find restrooms, picnic shelters with grills, walking paths, a dog park, basketball and tennis courts, a playground and plenty of open space!

Catawba Meadows Park DGC - 18 Holes

PRDG-CMP_DGC_Map-final-20090929-150pxDisc golfers looking for a longer, more challenging game will enjoy the 18-hole course at Catawba Meadows Park. The course starts to the left of the corporate picnic shelters. Players will complete three holes before crossing a creek to finish the course in the seed orchard. Players can throw from the amateur or professional tee boxes marked by red or blue, respectively.

From Downtown Morganton, take N. Green Street north. Turn right on Sanford Drive. Turn left into Catawba Meadows. Turn left at the intersection and turn left into the parking area.

At Catawba Meadows Park, visits will also find restrooms, Greenway access, sand volleyball courts and more.

The main office for Morganton Parks and Recreation is located in the Collett Street Recreation Center at the corner of King and Collett streets in downtown. Morganton Parks and Recreation sponsors special events, sports tournaments and family fun activities throughout the year. Morganton sports leagues stress fundamentals and educational aspects.
