Parking Enforcement
Since 1953, the city of Morganton has provided Parking Enforcement for the downtown area. In times past, five-cent, ten-cent, and twenty five-cent meters were used, today, state-of-the-art technology, such as a digital hand-held ticketer, assists the Parking Enforcement Officer to efficiently and accurately manage violations and fines.
Parking Enforcement is responsible for the following duties:
- -Patrol downtown area for parking, handicapped and loading zone violations multiple times throughout the business day
- Issue tickets to vehicle owners found in violation of time limits allowed in ordinances
- Collect money from fine boxes; prepares final notice and past due parking notices, issue civil citations for parking
- Provides information and assistance to the public
Parking Citations can be paid the following ways:
- In person at Public Safety Headquarters
- Drop-off boxes throughout the city
- Mail citation/payment to 304 S. College St., Morganton, NC 28655
