Communications
The Communications Center is staffed with eight full-time Telecommunicators assigned to four road platoons. A comprehensive upgrade of all communications technology was completed in 2007 providing our personnel with state-of-the-art equipment to better serve the department, in-turn assuring the best communications we can provide to the citizens of Morganton.
In an effort to have a more efficient flow of information in regards to dispatching, our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) is interoperable with the communications centers of Burke County Emergency Operations Center, Burke County Sheriffs Office, and Valdese Police Department. This interoperability allows for seamless transfer of dispatch data from one agency to another to provide real-time information which is crucial in deploying personnel and resources to calls-for-service.
