City to temporarily shut off water service on Amherst Road

water shut off-75x75The City of Morganton will shut off water service temporarily next week to customers living in the Amherst Road area in Morganton and Drexel. Contractors need to move a water line located at the Amherst Road Bridge just east of the Morganton City limits.

Burke County Health Department sponsoring Community Yard Sale

burke county seal-100pxThe Burke County Health Department is sponsoring a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 8am – 1pm to benefit the March of Dimes. The yard sale will offer Burke County residents a place to sell items found during household spring cleanings. Any resident interested, can purchase a 10 X 10 area on the Morganton Courthouse lawn and sidewalk area for $10 by Friday, May 30, 2014.

Belmont, Morganton vying for ‘Great Main Streets’ title

With historic yet bustling downtowns and vibrant arts communities the downtown areas of Belmont, Mooresville, and Morganton, along with Charlotte's North Davidson Street are vying to take home the "Great Main Streets" title in this year's North Carolina Great Places Contest, organized by the N.C. Chapter of the American Planning Association.
